I agree with you that the ending was appropriate and not nihilistic or morally problematic; in fact, it was very morally conventional. For me, the big gaff in Death Note was killing off L in a way that was not structurally significant. That's one thing (probably the one thing) the live action film did better.

I wanted to reply to let you know that I would love to stop by your comm and chat over stuff. My RL has been a bit crazy (my mother-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer) so I haven't been around here much. I'm going to get this back up and running again, so feel free to stop by.

I agree with you that the LA version dealt with L's death much better. I really enjoyed both of the LA movies a lot:)

I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. My best to your family. RL has been keeping me jumping too. Thus, my community is really neglected, but you're always welcome there.
